The Spectacular Spider-Man (Techno Wars)

The Amaz... er... Spectacular Spider-Man has always been one of my favorite superheroes. And this is (to date) the version I like the most.

First of all, it has the right color scheme, the right suit markings and looks right! Then, it looks vintage which suits me just fine.

To the best of my knowledge, this particular version was available in 1996 (Toy Biz) in 2 different sets: Techno Wars Anti-Symbiote Spidey and Hyper Tech Spider-Man.

Figure: Spectacular Spider-Man by Toy Biz. Markings state 1995, but both above sets are from 1996. It has a Secret Wars feel to it and I love it!

Now, of course it doesn´t come with open hands closed enough to grip a weapon, since Spidey uses no guns having his own sticky web wrist cannons. BUT, one of the hands is closed enough to grip some accessories. The... amazing thing about this figure other than its looks has to do with the poses it can deliver. Some of those trademark moves. It really looks like Spider-Man!

Of course Peter Parker needs a camera, so Chap Mei to the rescue! And while we´re at it, some binoculars just in case he feels like... bird watching... on top of N.Y. roofs!

Fantastic 4: The Thing - Clobberin Time Punch

 Ben Grimm in its... pardon, his crude yet very known and loved form - The Thing!

One of the Fantastic Four characters, created in the early 60s and known to be the first team creation by comics legend, Stan Lee!

Toy Biz, 1994. With his trademark orange rock appearance, this strong and powerful... thing has a very decent articulation set of points, especially for a figure this large (13cm - approx 5").

Clobberin Time Punch feature. Neat!

Hercules - Xena II Warrior Disguise

A Toy Biz figure from 1996, also called Xena "II", this figure captures the image of its line in a heroic fashion.

Xena is part of the Hercules 5" action figure line

Mint On Card and long out of production

Included accessories. Charkram, Bow and Arrows. The arrows can actually be launched since the bow comes with a nylon string.

Civilian outfit. An overall interesting figure, it reflects some of the limitations of most of the 90s figures. Poor articulation. One closed fist, meaning only one hand can grab accessories.

Xena 2 "in Warrior Disguise" comes with a removable gown, and there´s a common confusion about it. Some call it Xena with removable warrior disguise, making this redish outfit the warrior gown, but on the back of the card it is explained how to remove Princess Warrior outfit by sliding civilian outfit over her head.

Molded after Lucy Lawless, the actress playing Xena.Not bad at all. Some similarities!

X-Men X-Jet

A Toy Biz product, distributed in Western Europe by Famosa, this aircraft is a great asset for 3 3/4" figures enthusiasts.

Based on the SR-71 Blackbird, it´s an interesting variation.

The color is Cobra Blue, for "Joe" fans. very similar to the original Cobra Rattler.

Many cool angles here.

... And a great asset for your "Cobra Air Legions". Vintage or modern!

A lever is hidden inside the tail section...

Unfolding, the claw system works. Pretty ingenious, but as far as realistic usability goes, 0.

Engine air intakes are actually missile launching bays.

Thunderous sound and jet fly by are heard when pressing the triggers on this folding handle. The missiles include a great system: When fired, while passing by the launching rail, they activate their lights.

Landing gear. Now this is a disaster. Rarely works, and looks cheap.

Scale shots with Hasbro´s G.I.Joe RAH action figure. The cockpit was constructed for one X-Men figure, however it can hold two 3 3/4" figures.
